2 Wins from 2

Sean McDermots 2-10 v St.Nicholas 4-8

HT 1-3 v 3-2

St. Nicholas made it two from two with another win in Mountrath on Saturday evening. Paddy Murtagh gave the Nicks the ideal start, finding the back of the net within the first five minutes. McDermotts replied with two points from free kicks but another Murtagh goal and a point from Evan Byrne had the Nicks extending their lead. Both teams exchanged goals late in the half, Sam Reilly netting for the visitors following some excellent build up play between himself and Derek Kierans.

The Nicks continued their ascendancy early in the second half with points from Kierans and Vinny O'Hare. The Seans kept fighting and cutting the Nicks lead with points from play. A great team goal from St.Nicholas, starting with Ryan Farrell at corner back and finishing withDerek Kierans hitting the roof of the net. A late penalty for McDermotts kept them within touching distance but some tight defending from the Nicks helped them hold out for the win.

Well done to Stephan Finnegan who made his Adult team debut.
