Stabannon Parnells 1-11 v 3-13 St.Nicholas

HT 0-5 v 2-4

St.Nicholas continued their fine league form with a hard fought victory in a wet and windy Stabannon on Sunday afternoon. It was the home side who began the brightest, registering two from play before Jimmy Murray pulled one back for the Nicks. Due to the poor conditions the visitors varied their kick out strategy, one such short kick out went end to end, culminating with Sam Reilly linking with Murray and then Reilly finding the back of the net. The goal leaving the nicks two up at the water break. Some sloppy defending allowed stabannon to add two more frees in the first half and some sloppy finishing kept the score low coming into the break. A Barry Woods point and 1-1 from Paudi Downey, the goal a fisted effort after good work from Murray and Stephan Hodgins, left St.Nicholas with a good lead at the half.

Alex finnegan added another from play for St. Nicholas after Brian carter won possession from the throw in. Barry Woods and Murray added another two in a bright start to the second half. Stabannon kept working hard and added two frees and two from play either side of the water break. A Brian Carter goal left it comfortable for the nicks by the end. A late goal for Stabannon was only consolation.
