First loss in the League

St.Nicholas 0-8 v Dowd’hill 2-7 HT 0-5 v 0-1

In a game dominated by a strong wind it was the visitors who managed the conditions best and left Jimmy Pentony with a deserved two points. The nicks had the aid of a strong wind in the first half but were unable to capitalise on their advantage. Points from Derek Kierans, Phillip Kirwan and Evan Byrne had the nicks leading 5 to 1 at the break but ultimately a number of missed chances and poor play would cost them.

The second half started evenly with both teams sharing possessions Sam Reilly and Kierans adding to St.Nicholas’ tally but that was all from the home team. A resolute defence and some swift attacking had Dowdallshill even by midway through the half. Two late goals ended the match as a contest and a disappointing day for the Nicks.
